1975 Buick Regal Base Coupe 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars

Year:1975 Mileage:17713 Color: Condition
Location:

Berlin, Connecticut, United States

Berlin, Connecticut, United States

Up for auction is an all original 1975 Buick Regal survivor.I have owned the car for 5 years now,and it is time for a new home.

Options:

Original J code 350-4bbl,auto,A/C(still working and on R12),AM/FM radio, power steering, power disc brakes, dual painted sport mirrors,60/40 split bench seat, tilt wheel, rally rims.Ranch green with green velour interior.

Exterior Condition:

The car is in very good survivor condition,it was originally from Ca that was brought to the East coast in the late 90's.The car still has its orig paint still present, while in good condition, never wrecked/rotted/etc it does have some small imperfections/blemishes.There are some small door dings on the sides of the car, hard to get pics of and must say the color hides them well. There is a few spots where the factory laquer paint is chipping, and has   checking on the trunk lid,but again, the car is still orig paint!!!!!I am being very picky to describe the car to you,as the car shows well enough to win trophies at shows, and gets compliments all the time. And in some instances, have been asked if it was the orig color,as some have thought the car was refinished at one point in time, and are shocked when I tell them it is orig paint. Some even go to the extent to search in the jambs for the tell tale tape lines, and don't find any.The chrome on the bumpers is nice, not brand new looking, but not dead either. It was a cheap chrome from the era on GM cars of the mid 70's,and has held up well for the age of it.The stainless trim around the windows, wheel wells and rocker trim is REAL nice. The car also still retains all its orig glass.

Interior:

The interior will really take you back, dam near perfect !!!!Looks like a new car,the only flaws are on the dash speaker grates, each has a crack in the middle of them,it did not take these cars long to get them. The rest of the interior is like 1975 all over again !!!!Perfect carpet, seats, headliner, rear speaker shelf, door panels, instrument cluster, etc. The lighter has never been pushed in and ash tray looks brand new !!!!!The only thing not orig in the interior is the steering wheel,a three spoke sport wheel has been added, and a third brake light on the rear shelf.I do not have the orig wheel.Power windows go up and down flawlessly. The doors open and close like a new car,NO sag or drop to them !!!!!Weather stripping around the doors, body, and outside wipes are like new !!!!!

 Mechanical:

The car starts right up with 2 pumps of the pedal, goes right to high idle, and kicks down as it should.Runs as good as is was in 1975.With the 4bbl carb that has small front primarys it is better on gas than you would expect when you are cruising down the highway with it.Transmission shifts as it should, nice and smooth. Both engine and trans run and drive perfectly, very dependable, and once you own it will see you would trust it to go anywhere. The trans does have a small leak,it needs a new tranny pan gasket.I replaced the accumulater cover O ring and speedo O ring as I found they had a small leak when I first got the car.I did do a tranny service, filter, fluid, and pan gasket, but while chasing down the leak(which was the two O rings mentioned)I kept tighting the pan gasket thinking it was it,and by doing so over crushed the gasket alitle,so that is where it currently leaks from. But at that,is not a big leak.

Brakes:

The car is still riding on its orig brakes !!!!I pulled the rear wheel to find the orig brake drum with Buick Tri-shield stamped on it,and the push clips on the studs !!Removing the rear drums exposed the orig asbestos riveted brake shoes with AC delco part number still visible on the side!!!And beautiful hardware/springs/etc.

Exhaust:

The car orig had single, but now has a new dual on it with a cat in each side, good for those that will have to do an emmissions test.

Trunk:

The inside of the trunk WOWS people when they see it,totally spotess, spatter paint still perfect, perfect mat, trunk light works, full size rally wheel in place NEVER mounted on car,as well as the jack has never been used.

Engine compartment:

One of the previous owners did a hot high pressure steam cleaning and unfortunately ripped off a lot of the paint from the engine.I chose to leave it like that as to keep the car in an original survivor, untouched condition. The inner fender wells/radiator support are mint !!!!!Hardly ever seen intact is the orig hose from the aircleaner to the rad support in mint shape. The intake manifold has a small leak that leaks out the front onto the top of the timing cover, small enough that it is not worth fixing,I just keep an eye on it,and if needed I use a paper towel and clean it off.

Undercarraige:

Being a Ca car,it does not have that globbed up undercoating, very clean underside, usual flash rust on some items, but after a few months from new most likely looked like that.

Tires:

The tires on the car are BF Goodrich radial T/A's,225/70/15's.They are still full of tread,80% or so.

Overview:

This is a survivor car that starts/stops/runs/drives great, has great options to have in a cruising car, although with minor flaws/imperfections holds its own at car shows/cruise nights and gets lots of looks and thumbs ups when out enjoying it.A/C for those hot days in the summer(forgot to mention, yes, the heater works),titlt wheel,AM/FM,split bench seat, and even a factory clock that still works and holds time as well as the door key buzzer !!!!!To get into an old survivor classic,my reserve is set at what I think is very fair as to what you are getting, you can't go buy a cheaper price project car and get the results you will have in this for the same money when you are done pumping money into a project car.I strongly welcome and encourage to see the car in person,I am confident those would like what they are going to see. Those that are interested can send me a message to have a phone conversation with me if you want more details.

And as always, the car is for sale locally,so I reserve the right to end the auction early.Good luck on a car that is turn key ready for the cruising season, thank you and happy bidding !!!!

Buick to add more GS models?

Fri, 29 Nov 2013

Buick may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of performance automobiles, but fans of the brand know what letters to look for. If you believe the reports, there's a new GNX and Grand National on the way, but in the meantime, Buick may offer more GS models to fill the void.
Currently, the Regal is the only model available as a GS (pictured above), packing the same 259-horsepower turbo four as the Regal Turbo but enhanced with key suspension, brakes and rolling-stock upgrades. As Car and Driver notes, similar upgrades could easily be applied to the Verano and LaCrosse, although maybe not the Encore or Enclave crossovers. Of course, Buick would still have to steer clear of Cadillac's Vsport line, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a little room to play.

J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.

Buick version of Equinox/Terrain CUV spied testing... with autonomous gear?

Wed, 12 Jun 2013

Let's get the most pressing bits of this story out of the way right off the bat: What we see here appears to be a new compact crossover from Buick. According to the spy photographer, this machine may be a little bit smaller on the outside than the current Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain 'utes, which makes sense since recent rumors suggest GM's small crossovers will migrate to a new platform that will mark a convergence between the automaker's Delta (Chevy Cruze, Buick Verano) and Theta (Equinox, Terrain) platforms. This Buick would likely use this new D2UX platform.
We've been expecting Buick to unleash a crossover to slot between the very small Encore and the very large Enclave, and various rumors have indicated that the model may be known as either the Anthem or Envision. It's worth mentioning that Buick had planned, back in 2009, to release a vehicle in the compact CUV market, but abandoned those plans after a particularly poor reception.
And now for something completely different... Take another look at the spy shots above, and pay special attention to the cylindrical device mounted to the vehicle's roof. We can't say for sure what it is, but our spy photographer opines that it looks quite a bit like the 360-degree Lidar camera equipment used by Google for its autonomous cars. Is General Motors working with Google on autonomous car technology? We don't know, but you can definitely consider us intrigued.
