Stunning 1990 Bentley Turbo R that has been lovingly cared for in a forgiving climate.
The vehicle has a genuine 34k from new. The paintwork of flawless and the chrome and stainless steel trim is all in A1 shape. The leather and interior are as they were the day they came out of the factory. The wood and marquetry are simply stunning in terms of condition and craftsmanship, its no wonder these cars were $180.0000 when new! Recent new power steering rack and top bushings, Air Conditioning Compressor, Oil service, fluid changes and filter replacements. It recently had a sticking passenger window so that was repaired with a new switch and the wiring upgrade performed internally on the doors. The car drives as you would expect will all systems functioning correctly. The car was maintained in an Air Conditioned garage all of its life and it certainly shows in its condition, The leather is perfectly supple and has no creases or stretch marks indicating over heating. The dash pad is absolutely perfect as can be seen in the pictures. The A/C blows super cold and the dials and gauges all function as they should. A more modern audio system has been installed utilizing the existing amps and speakers and works very well, an MP3 or Ipod device can be used. The car has a clear Florida title and a clean Carfax report that will accompany the car. Bentley CEO says Mulsanne Convertible isn't going to happen [w/poll]
Mon, 23 Sep 2013Bentley and Rolls-Royce may be as direct as competitors get, but that doesn't mean they go head-to-head on every model. Bentley is arguably more focused on its Continental line, with the pricier Mulsanne branching off of it. Rolls-Royce, meanwhile, only recently expanded (relatively) down-market with the Wraith and the Ghost on which it's based. For Rolls, it's long been about the Phantom and its coupe and convertible variants. And Bentley doesn't pose much of a challenge in that stratospheric segment.
Crewe discontinued the old Arnage-based Brooklands coupe and Azure convertible in 2009 and 2011, respectively, and hasn't rolled out a successor for either in the few years since. The high-end British automaker revealed a conceptual convertible based on the Mulsanne at Pebble Beach Concours last year and was said to be moving ahead with production plans, but the latest intel suggests that Bentley has taken it off the development table.
This according to Car and Driver, which spoke with Bentley's new chief exec Wolfgang Schreiber at the Frankfurt Motor Show. According to Schreiber, there just isn't enough demand worldwide to justify the development costs - even if it is based on the existing flagship sedan. Apparently Bentley has evaluated that beyond the US and Europe, they couldn't sell enough of them in other markets to make it worthwhile. We'd imagine some Middle-Eastern sheikhs might like to get their hands on a few, but apparently the higher priority is getting the Falcon sport-ute out the door.
Bentley confirms SUV for 2016
Tue, 23 Jul 2013It looks like the addition of a Royal Baby isn't the only big news coming out of the UK this week. Bentley has ended all of the will they/won't they speculation by confirming today that it will produce an SUV. Earmarked to go on sale in 2016, the as-yet unnamed Bentley SUV will help create an extra 1,000 jobs in the UK.
While no concrete details have been released, Bentley says that it will be the "most luxurious and most powerful SUV" on the market. Past rumors have indicated that the SUV could look completely different from the 2012 EXP 9 F Concept shown above, be renamed the Falcon and offer options like a plug-in hybrid version and three-row seating. To prepare for a fourth model in its lineup, Bentley will be investing 800 million British pounds (around $1.2 billion USD) into its Crewe headquarters and production lines over the next three years.
