Spring is here and it's time to take the top down and get out into the sunshine. This car has spent most of its life going from one garage space to another across mostly highway miles. Aside from a few minor blemishes and a scuff on the front fender (see picture), both the paint and the cloth top are in pristine condition. Body and under body has absolutely no rust. The car was involved in a minor fender bender about 6 years ago. No air bag deployment and the entire front bumper was replaced. The oil has recently been changed and the mechanic made no service recommendations that needed to be addressed during the visit. The only known issue that the car has, is that the driver's side seat heater does not work. The car is so well insulated and the heat works so well, we never used the heated seats anyways. Engine runs strong and the transmission shifts smoothly through all 5 gears. A/C works well. Pick up or delivery is the buyer's responsibility. ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. THERE ARE NO RETURNS. BMW 2 Series Active Tourer corners surprisingly flat on 'Ring
Mon, 07 Jul 2014With seven seats and front-wheel drive, you might not expect the upcoming long-wheelbase version of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer to live up to the Ultimate Driving Machine reputation that BMW has fostered over the years. But the latest spy clip from the Nürburgring suggests otherwise.
The Bavarian automaker has apparently been testing its new people mover on the Nordschleife, getting it ready to join the growing 2 Series family. And though it's wearing heavy camouflage, we can clearly see from the video below that it's cornering impressively flat - which bodes well for those who'll need to transport their expanding family but aren't prepared to give up on handling.
BMW 1 Series sedan interior revealed
Sun, 09 Nov 2014The next BMW 1 Series Sedan has made another appearance following our last peek at it in September, and this time, the gallery of images even reveals part of the new car's interior.
Of course, if these images prove anything, it's that manufacturers take camouflage of the interior just as seriously as they do the exterior. We can see in these images a fairly simple cabin, with what looks like a fixed central display. It's quite small, although the housing itself is rather large, so we could be looking at a more basic form of iDrive rather than the full-featured set. Overall, though, this cabin more or less confirms that the 1 Series Sedan will fit in with the rest of the BMW family quite nicely.
Outside of the interior images, though, there isn't a lot of new stuff revealed by these images. As for when we'll see both the interior and exterior fully undisguised, our spies continue pointing to a 2016 debut with a 2017 on-sale date.
BMW recalling nearly 570,000 1 Series, 3 Series and Z4 models over electrical issue
Mon, 18 Feb 2013BMW is recalling roughly 570,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada due to faulty battery cable connectors that can fail, causing the engines in these cars to stall. Of the nearly 570,000 affected vehicles, just over 504,000 are here in the US.
The affected vehicles include 1 Series coupes and convertibles (both 128i and 135i) from the 2008 to 2011 model years; 3 Series sedans, coupes, convertibles and sport wagons (both 328i and 335i) from the 2007 to 2011 model years; and Z4 roadsters from the 2009 to 2011 model years.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "the connector for the positive battery cable connector and the corresponding terminal on the fuse box may degrade over time," which can eventually lead to a break in the electrical connection and a loss of power in the vehicle. If the car loses power, the engine can stall, which could possibly lead to a crash. The Detroit News reports that BMW knows of one minor collision in Canada as a result of this problem, but no injuries.
