2002 Bmw M Roadster, Laguna Seca, 18,500 Miles!!!, Rare, Fast, Fun on 2040-cars
Clarkston, Georgia, United States
This is my 2002 BMW M Roadster with only 18,900 miles. The car is Laguna Seca Blue with a grey and black leather interior. Add-ons / extras include stainless roll bars (originals included in sale), Dinan front strut bar, NIB floor mats (originals still in car), NIB rear window (original is fine, but the plastic windows do age. You're ahead of the curve with this car), illuminated chrome shift knob (original included in sale), Dinan Diff support reinforcement kit (not installed), and two new Michelin Pilot Super Sport rear tires. Books, tools, spare, pump, two wind blockers (one OEM & one Plexiglas), and original Monroney / window sticker included. I am the second owner. The car was originally owned in Colorado and was a gift to the owners wife for her 40th birthday. Car was always garaged until recently (one of the reasons I'm selling) and has never been driven in the rain; at least not by me at that is what I was told by seller. Due to my house being remodeled and the subsequent temporary lose of my garage space, the car is now temporarily outside. However, it is double covered (water-proof & breathable Tyvek cover) and padded. Car looks beautiful! In my opinion, the stainless roll bars look awesome and give the car a much sportier and true roadster look compared to others on the road. However, you will get the originals and swapping them is a very easy task. The Dinan Differential support kit was not installed on the recommendation of my local Dinan dealer based on how the car was being used. If you live in the Mountains or plan to drive it hard, have it installed. The car has been driven less than 1500 miles during the last 2-1/2 years. I just took the car out of it's winter storage. So, this listing is a little premature, but I wanted to get the ball rolling. Car will be detailed and serviced next week; weather permitting. New rear tires have been ordered (fronts are good) and the left rear wheel will be repaired. The repair is for a minor scuff on the lip of the rim that I put there on one of my first drives on the wonderful streets of downtown Atlanta. Imagine the words that came out of my mouth! With only around 1600 LHD units produced, I believe these M cars are true modern collectables and the numbers back me up. Values have been increasing over the past few years. I can't remember the exact production numbers, but the number of these cars produced in this color combination was in the teens. At least one of those is believed to have been totaled. There use to be an easy way to look this up online, but I can't find the site. I will update this listing and add more pictures once the car has been detailed. The Roadster will be for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this listing at any time. Please feel free to ask any questions. Cars is sold as is, where is. I am willing to assist in any shipping or inspections. NO JOY RIDERS. You must have valid drivers license and proof of insurance before any test drive. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. NO HOLDING. $1000 non-refundable deposit will be due within 24hrs.

2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo [w/video]
Thu, 21 Mar 2013BMW Gets Much Closer To The GT Look And Feel It Seeks
The 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is being launched to a pretty cynical automotive press brigade. You know it. We know it. Heck, even BMW knows it. We've just returned from driving it on the rather unforgiving and sometimes nasty roads of Sicily, and even before we got behind the wheel, many of our media colleagues were busying themselves doubting the 3 GT's very raison d'être. So, despite the always excellent Sicilian hospitality, the day's atmosphere was kind of fragile.
While the press in attendance seemed determined to nail every product expert to the wall for having been even tangentially associated with the larger 5 Series Gran Turismo, it seemed that BMW decided ahead of time to not introduce such a sensitive discussion topic. That strategy would do little to smooth things over as everyone started digging for dirt on BMW's so far clumsy Gran Turismo franchise.
The Homer to contest 24 Hours of LeMons
Thu, 27 Jun 2013It's finally happened. A 24 Hours of LeMons team has built the definitive interpretation of The Homer from The Simpsons for competition in an upcoming race. As you may recollect, The Homer is the fictional car designed by Homer Simpson for his brother's car company. Designed with a separate compartment for screaming children and other Homer-centric goodies, the animated machine bankrupted its parent company and put Homer's brother out of a job. Now we get to watch it race other crap cans as it tackles Southern California's Buttonwillow Raceway on June 29. Scott Chamberlain, Kris Linquist, Reid Conti, Ben Reilly and Mike Yepes will helm the machine, and Jeff Herman serves as the team's creative director.
The racer is the latest incarnation of a well-abused BMW 3 Series. The team campaigned the same E30 under the "Prickstine" banner as a Chrysler Imperial tribute and "Porcubimmer," the latter being a riff on the ever-popular joke about the difference between porcupines and BMW models. Never gets old. You can check out a video of the finished Homer below, and be sure to like the team on Facebook to see updates from the race. Now, about that Canyonero...
Upcoming new BMW X6 leaks out ahead of full reveal
Thu, 05 Jun 2014The X5 may have been the first BMW crossover on the market when it arrived in 2000, opening the door to more high-riding Bavarians to follow, but it's been replaced twice over now. The X3 is on its second generation, and with the X1 having been introduced in 2009 and the X4 soon to hit showrooms, that makes the X6 - introduced in 2008 - the oldest crossover in the BMW lineup. But it won't be for much longer.
Soon BMW will reveal the all-new X6, based on the latest X5 but with that tell-tale slanted roofline. But before it gets the chance, a handful of images have leaked their way all over the Internet to give us an advance look at what to expect.
The overall shape of the new X6 comes across as familiar, if a bit less of an awkward take on the vehicle that (for better or worse) launched the crossover coupe segment. Up front the twin kidney grilles and headlights are larger, in keeping with the latest BMW design language, and the bumper less horizontal and more dynamic. Towards the back there's a sharp crease above the wheel arch blending into the more rakishly shaped tail lights, while the metallic vent behind the front wheel arch lends the flank an even sportier appearance.
