You are bidding on a fabulous 2001 Z3 Roadster, the best little sports car I've ever owned. The car is in good condition, runs great and has a set of Michelin Pilot Exalto tires. The tread is about half way through its 45,000 mile life. The car has been garage kept and never smoked in.

As you'd expect with a 2001, there are some paint chips, a couple of scratches on one door and the leather seat on the driver's side is a little worn on the outside edge from entry / exit. The very low nose has clipped a couple of things. Check the pictures as I've documented the few small defects. The top is in good condition with no rips or problems, although the back window is starting to show signs of age. The only mechanical problems are; the key no longer works on the passenger door lock and the remote lock / unlock from the master key has never worked well since I purchased the car. The dealer wants more than I want to spend, but I'd be glad to get you an estimate. There are no diagnostic service codes and the oil has been recently changed. Overall the car looks and drives great and I always get comments.

If you are planning to buy, I'll be glad to schedule a buyers inspection at the shop of your choice. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. Ask any questions you have and I'll get back as quickly as possible.

Here's a little fine print courtesy of one of my friends in the auto business:

PLEASE remember that you are buying a used vehicle. This means there will be normal wear and tear associated with the vehicle's age including (but not limited to) scratches, rock chips, wheel scuffs, painted bumpers, dings, required maintenance, normal wear of leather seats, steering wheel leather, carpet (within reason), wear and tear on door handle color, etc.... So PLEASE ask me to do a "walk around" of the car to thoroughly describe anything that might be of concern to you. Used cars will have some flaws! All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle can take placeAcceptable payments for vehicle's remaining balance are as follows: Cashiers Check, PayPal or Wire Transfer. I will require a $500 deposit on the close of the auction which will be non-refundable.

Two rare Alpina BMWs given the Petrolicious treatment

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Alpina is getting more and more ink because of because of that rolling cannonade known as the B7 and its closer ties with BMW. The company's tuning business dates to 1962 when Burkard Bovensiepen began fiddling with Weber carburetors, then his company began racing in 1968 and was eventually certified as an automaker in 1983.
Two of its rarer specimens from those early years have gotten a glance from the folks at Petrolicious: the E24 B10 and E24 B7S. Based on the BMW 6 Series, the Alpina versions made one of the most special coupes from the Eighties even more so. According to the video, there were only 44 B10s made, and the turbocharged, 333-horsepower B7S - this was in a luxury coupe in 1982, mind you - saw only 33 examples produced.
You won't be sorry to find out more about them - and see how they run - in the Petrolicious video below.

BMW web sales plan opposed by German dealers

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Tesla isn't the only manufacturer that is facing a backlash over its plans to sell cars directly to customers. BMW is under fire from its German dealerships over its desire to sell its cars via the internet.
BMW has plans to sell the new i3 through the World Wide Web, while a "Mobile Sales Force" will be making house calls. According to Automotive News Europe, Head of German Sales Roland Krueger told German weekly Wirtschaftswoche, "We can imagine that Internet sales could be expanded to all models." This is the particular caveat that has traditional brick-and-mortar dealers so up in arms.
According to the head of BMW's German dealerships Werner Entenmann, "We told BMW in no uncertain terms that we cannot accept direct sales channels." Reuters reports that an anonymous dealer has gone so far as to pledge not to use the sales force in Germany. Krueger, for what it's worth, told Wirtschaftswoche that the "backbone" of BMW sales will still be traditional dealerships.

Toyota launches BMW-powered Verso in Europe

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

BMW makes some sweet-revving engines, but its own vehicles aren't the only ones running BMW engines. So do the latest from Rolls-Royce and Mini, of course, as well as a handful of Peugeots and Citroëns thanks to its joint engine program with PSA. Wiesmann uses BMW engines, as did the famous McLaren F1. And now we can add one more to the list.
That would be the Toyota Verso, a Corolla-based minivan which Toyota builds in Turkey and sells in Europe and a few other markets overseas. The Verso is also now officially the first beneficiary of the partnership between Toyota and BMW as the Japanese automaker has released the MPV with BMW's 1.6-liter turbodiesel four.
The 111-horsepower engine is coupled to a Toyota transmission and joins the Verso range as the fourth (and least powerful) engine in the lineup, alongside the 122hp 2.0 diesel and the gasoline options with 1.6 liters and 160 hp and 1.8 for 180. Future collaborations between the two automakers will include fuel-cell development, a new joint sportscar platform, lightweight bodywork research and a new generation of lithium-air batteries. See the press release below for further details.
