To all that saw this car listed previously, my apologies for the delay and I appreciate your patience. This is my 2002 BMW M Roadster with only 18,900 miles. The car is Laguna Seca Blue with a black and grey leather interior. Add-ons / extras include stainless roll bars (originals boxed and included in sale), Dinan front strut bar, NIB floor mats (originals still in car), NIB rear window (original is fine, but the plastic windows do age. You're ahead of the curve with this car), illuminated chrome shift knob (original boxed and included in sale), Dinan Diff. support reinforcement kit (not installed), and Four new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires mounted on freshly refinished wheels (they look awesome!), Hamann pedals (not installed), custom oil cap, and NIB OE BMW car cover. Books, tools, spare, pump, two wind blockers (one OEM & one Plexiglas), and original Monroney / window sticker included. I am the second owner. The car was originally owned in Colorado and female driven. Car has always been garaged until recently and has never been driven in the rain; at least not by me and that is what I was told when I purchased the car. Due to my house being remodeled and the subsequent lose of my garage space, the car is now temporarily outside. However, it is double covered (water-proof & breathable Tyvek cover) and padded. Car looks beautiful! In my opinion, the stainless roll bars look awesome and give the car a much sportier and true roadster look compared to stock. However, you will get the originals and swapping them is a very easy task. The Dinan Differential support kit was not installed on the recommendation of my local Dinan dealer based on how I drive the car. If you live in the Mountains or plan to drive it hard, have it installed. The car has been driven less than 1500 miles during the last 2-1/2 years. This is a very clean car. Notice the factory paint marks and cosmoline in the pictures (light brown/dull/dirty looking stuff). That said, I want to be as honest as possible and the car is not perfect. Being a car with a low nose that spent most of its life in Colorado, it does have some rock chips on the nose. There are two small scratches by each front "fender" (I will add pictures). Of more concern would be the passenger side skirt that was scratched in storage (I will add picture). I took the car to a BMW certified body shop that has a very good reputation here in Atlanta and they will repair it for $300. They can also repair the chips and scratches, but advised me not to do so. I also recently found out that the front spoiler has been painted. The color is a perfect match and was not noticed when I had the car inspected. At this time, I am not planning to have the side skirt repaired. Individuals get picky about this sort of work and I'm going to let the new owner do what they want done. I have priced the car accordingly. I will give the buyer the printed estimates. The side bolster on the left of the drivers seat has normal wear. The rest of the seats look new. This everything I can think of that a potential buyer should know of which I am aware, but feel free to ask any questions. The car is a great fun, fast, and appreciating ride. With only around 1600 LHD units produced, I believe these M cars are true modern collectables and the numbers back me up. Values have been increasing over the past few years. I can't remember the exact production numbers, but the number of these cars produced in this color combination was in the teens. At least one of those is believed to have been totaled. There was an easy way to look this up online, but I can't find the site. The Roadster will be for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this listing at any time. BMW 02 Series mini-documentary makes us fall in love all over again
Sun, 24 Mar 2013BMW's current reputation of building Ultimate Driving Machines can be traced back through history all the way to 1966, when the German automaker introduced the world to its 1600-2 two-door at the Geneva Motor Show. The car's name was simplified in 1971 to BMW 1602, and it went on to spawn the 2002, one of the most famous BMW models of all time.
BMW looks back on its past successes in a video that you can see below. As the automaker itself says in the video description, "This series was extraordinarily successful in reinterpreting the concept of the sports saloon and played a major role in motor sport long after production had come to an end." The 2002 would be replaced in 1975 by another legendary model from BMW: the 3 Series.
We'd be lying if we said we didn't long for something along the lines of the classic 2002 from BMW today. Since that doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon, join us in remembering the cars that helped make BMW a household name by scrolling down below.
BMW planning Zhi Nuo Chinese sub-brand, may export models
Sat, 06 Apr 2013Automakers continue to pour big money into the developing market that is China, and new sub-brands born of joint ventures with domestic partners crop up on what seems like a weekly basis. The latest? According to reports, BMW and its Chinese ally Brilliance are forming a new sub-brand called Zhi Nuo ("The Promise") that will likely rely on existing or older BMW products as a basis for new models.
Previous reports had indicated that the sub-brand could build its offerings based on an older 3 Series model (presumably the E90 series), but newer rumors have the X1 crossover (shown) factoring in. The Zhi Nuo brand could receive its official unveiling as soon as later this month at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Perhaps most interestingly, Automotive News Europe reports that the automaker's ambitions for Zhi Nuo may extend beyond China's borders. It's not clear what markets BMW may be eying, but executives admit the company hasn't ruled out Europe.
BMW Vision Future Luxury arrives in Beijing dressed to the nines
Sat, 19 Apr 2014Almost two weeks ago, we reported that BMW may be bringing a concept to the 2014 Beijing Motor Show that could herald a flagship 9 Series model that would be better suited to do battle with the tip-top of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class range than the current 7 Series. Well, here it is. This is the Vision Future Luxury Concept, and straight away, it looks suited to the role of ultra-luxury flagship.
In our original story, we reported that the Beijing concept would wear styling similar to the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe that was shown in Villa d'Este nearly a year ago. Unlike that car, the Vision Future Luxury sports four doors, although its roofline plunges aggressively enough for it to be considered a four-door coupe. That doesn't mean it will compromise on rear-seat space, however. Judging by the length of the rear doors alone, this is a very large vehicle.
Its styling, though, is, as we reported, quite familiar. We can see the evolution of the Concours' concept's styling, with a narrower grille that still leads up into the hood. The thin headlights use BMW's Laserlight technology while retaining a shape similar to the Gran Lusso, and the lower intake is dominated by a carbon-fiber air deflector on both ends. BMW's Air Breather system can be found behind the front wheels, adding an accent along the lower portion of the doors. In back, organic LED lighting is used for the super-slim taillights.
