Listing for a long time friend and BMW owner (cars & bikes).......95 model 840 CI that was originally a California car that my buddy bought and had shipped back to Tennessee in February 2006. At the time of purchase, he had the car delivered to Steve's BMW Service in Redondo Beach for complete going over and all worn suspension parts were replaced at that time. Steering arms, sway bar links, motor mounts, pollen filters, control arms and bushings, front shocks, belts, oil service, etc. I can scan and send invoices to anyone with serious interest. Also at that time, owner bought fresh Alpina style 8x17 wheels with new tires (original rims are included with sale). Car has just had the ac serviced with new compressor, receiver dryer, etc and all is working like new ($1600). Car drives like a watch and has 148,000 highway miles with excellent service records from that time and Steve would be happy to discuss this car with serious buyers as he knows it end to end. Automatic transmission and everything works as it should - beautiful highway machine. The rear glass has a small peck that came from debris from the building next to his office but has not spread at all since that time (2006). BMW and Samsung team up with Galaxy Gear smartwatch that talks to your i3
Sun, 12 Jan 2014Without a doubt, the most impressive thing that BMW showed at CES this year was a driverless M235i drifting flawlessly around a wet track at Las Vegas Speedway. However, that bit of robotic helmsmanship wasn't the only trick the German company had up its sleeve. Or, more to the point, on its wrist.
Taking a page from rival Mercedes-Benz, BMW demonstrated how a "smartwatch," in this case the Samsung Galaxy Gear, could be made to function usefully with a vehicle, in this case the BMW i3. Calling it a "research application," BMW showed off its BMW i Remote App on the Galaxy Gear; the app gives information about state of battery charge, available range and whether or not all the doors and windows are closed or open. Perhaps more useful still, the watch can be used to send a destination to the i3's navigation unit, adjust the climate control in preparation for a trip and can recognize voice commands. Nifty stuff, if not world-shaking, that could help tech-obsessed luxury buyers take a second look at the upcoming BMW EV.

BMW i3 misses top Euro safety rating [w/videos]
Wed, 27 Nov 2013The Euro NCAP just tested a recent batch of new cars including the 2014 BMW i3, and the EV Bimmer scored less-than-perfect results. Though not horrible, BMW's all-electric/range-extended i3 was given a four-star (out of five possible) crash rating due to concerns with front-occupant whiplash and side-impact protection.
Based on the crash results, the BMW provided suitable protection for occupants in the frontal, side barrier, pedestrian and child-seat tests, but the i3 was tripped up when it came to the more severe side pole test and the rear-impact test. The pole test showed protection to the chest of the test dummy was "weak," and the front seats only provided "marginal" protection against whiplash for front passengers. BMW M6 amped up for track duty by Risden
Sat, 22 Dec 2012Risden Engineering is a bit of an unknown, if we're being completely honest - we have yet to report on the company to date, and its corporate website is really an information desert save for the name and a few email addresses. Even the press release that we requested from Risden's contact person is short and vague. That's all pretty much okay with us as long as the shadowy tuners, you know, make good on this sweet-looking BMW M6 racecar thing.
Dubbed the Risden 6R, we're told that the M6 modification will result in a vehicle that is more adept at track work, while still being street-legal. In terms of specifics, we read that a full aero kit will be involved, with one fixed and one retractable rear wing (hard to miss). There are obviously new wheels, and the company has also added a fully adjustable suspension, a four-point roll bar and a new braking system - all while reducing curb weight overall.
Apparently more details are to follow after the 6R's official release in the first quarter of 2013. We wait with bated breath.
