1991 Bmw 850i Base Coupe 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
Indiana, Pennsylvania, United States
Thank you for your interest. I am selling my 1991 BMW 850i
(E31) with 90,410 miles on the odometer (mileage might be slightly higher at
time of sale). This car is in excellent condition for a 23 year old vehicle and
has been very well taken care of. The body is very clean and free of rust and
dents and has a shiny burgundy color (with only a few blemishes in the paint).
This BMW has never seen snow as it was a Florida car that I bought three years
ago and which I picked up in person and drove back to Pennsylvania without any
problems at all. It has been stored during the winter months and was never
driven in snow. The V12 engine is very strong and runs smoothly with no engine
oil consumption at all. The automatic transmission shifts well from one gear to
the next without any jerks. Suspension and brakes are in excellent condition as
well. The interior is light brown and very clean with a new headliner and new A,
B, and C pillar coverings. The rear seats look as if no one ever sat in them
(and how could one with so little space?), the passenger seat is very good, and
the driver’s seat has a few minor blemishes (see pictures). Everything works just the way it should.
I purchased this one-owner vehicle in November of 2011 with 88,365 miles on the odometer, and to this day I have only put a little over 2,000 miles more on it. It was supposed to be my sunny weekend driver, but I just haven’t had the opportunity to use it much. It is now time to part ways. Questions are, of course, always welcome, and should you require more photos, please let me know. Personal inspections and test drives are encouraged, provided you are seriously interested in purchasing my BMW. There is no warranty of any kind! The car’s title is in my possession and will be transferred to the new owner at the time of full payment. My BMW is also for sale locally, which is why I must reserve the right to take it off Ebay at any moment. BMW won't build M4 Gran Coupe
Fri, 04 Jul 2014Over the last few years, it feels like BMW has looked at its lineup and decided to offer a vehicle in every possible segment that it can find, no matter how small. The company is finally showing some restraint, though, at least when it comes to the high performance M division. For example, don't expect to see an M4 Gran Coupe at your local BMW dealer in the future.
M GmbH sales chief Jörg Bartels told Cars Guide in Australia, "It was definitely considered, but there is no plan to build an M4 Gran Coupe." The sport sedan just wouldn't make financial sense, he said. BMW already builds the M3 and M4 at separate factories, adding a third for such a niche model would be too much. Plus, the M3 already fills out the segment.
If you wanted an M model with a bit more storage space in the back, Bartels dashed those dreams, as well. He said that there isn't an M3 Gran Turismo hatchback in the pipeline, either.
2014 BMW 4 Series convertible spotted
Thu, 27 Jun 2013We've seen a few spy shot packages featuring the upcoming BMW 4 Series Convertible already, but never with the car quite so naked as in this latest batch. Nabbed just outside the BMW Nürburgring workshop in Germany, this Melbourne Red 4 Series also shows the M Sport package for the first time.
With all of the cladding removed, we can see that the convertible shares the 4 Series coupe's great-looking nose and front end, though the resolution of that folding hard top into the rear bodywork remains a bit harsh.
With the 4 Series coupe now completely official, we have a pretty good idea of what the powertrain lineup for the 'vert will be. We'll be pretty surprised if a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo aren't the go-to engines at launch. Production of the droptop is likely to begin at the end of the year, so start bugging your local BMW dealer.
Alex Zanardi back in the driver's seat with BMW
Tue, 21 Jan 2014If there's ever been an inspirational story in the pantheon of motor racing history, surely it's that of Alessandro Zanardi. The Italian driver worked his way up the motor racing ladder, making it into Formula One and winning two CART championships for Chip Ganassi Racing back before the series re-merged into IndyCars. Tragedy struck in 2001 when he lost both his legs in a crash at the Lausitzring in Germany, but rather than accept his fate, Alex pushed on. Fitted with prosthetic limbs, he learned to drive a racing car with hand controls and got back in the driver's seat.
Zanardi drove for BMW in the European Touring Car Championship and then in the World Touring Car Championship that replaced it, landing on the podium several times despite his physical disadvantage. He left racing in 2009 to train for the Paralympics, winning two gold medals in London, but Alex apparently couldn't shake the racing bug. BMW modified one of its M3 DTM racers with hand controls for him to test later that year. And now he's returning to motor racing full time.
BMW has just announced that Zanardi will be driving a Z4 GT3 in the Blancpain Sprint Series, the successor to the FIA GT Series and short-distance counterpart to the Blancpain Endurance Series. The car has been modified with the hand controls the Bavarian automaker's racing department fitted to the aforementioned M3 DTM and will be fielded by the ROAL Motorsport team with which Alex challenged for the European Touring Car Championship last decade.
