Special Bonuses:
#1 I had installed a special bass/subwoofer system from the type audio guy in Chicago, the total package was $1500 equipment plus install.  The audio system exclusively runs off of this audio package so there is zero risk of blowing out any of the factory loaded equipment.  Below the steering wheel is a small, almost hidden knob that controls the bass, the rest of the sound is controlled from the computer embedded in the central dashboard.  The car comes with a 6 disc changer but no aux input.  Aftermarket blue tooth kits are available for less than $200 with install but I never got around to getting one, I was fine with 6 disc worth of music.  Trust me when I say if you are an audiophile, this system will blow you away!

#2 This car has been garage stored, independent of a tiny crack in the rear light (no impact to functionality or visible without a very close inspection) it is in excellent condition.  The car is gorgeous.

Brand New Equipment:
#1 New battery was installed this past week.
#2 New transmission installed less than 18 months ago, still under warranty.
#3 New alternator past 9 months.
#4 New brakes less than 18 months.
#5 All 4 tires are less than a year old, all top of line performance tires ($2000 value)
#6 New headlight lamps.

More work/maintenance was done but those are the biggies.  Documentation for all work is available and will be provided at the time of purchase.

In under 2 years I have invested about $8000 in getting this car perfect.  If it weren't for being literally given another car and now needing her garage spot you would not be reading this posting.

There are only 2 current issues with the car.  There is an inconsistent "PDC" light popping up which is essentially a bad sensor in a parking feature of the car that has no impact on how the car operates.  I bought the car with this error popping on occasionally and never had the desire to fix it.  The other issue is that the bottom of the windshield has a crack running across it, I took her to get cleaned on one of those freezing days in Chicago and the next morning woke up to the crack.  It runs along the black portion of the windshield and consequently has no impact to driving, it is only visible when looking for one corner of the crack in one part of the far right windshield.  The crack does run almost the length of the windshield but again 90% of it is along the very bottom section.  I priced the windshield to get fixed for $500 and that it is part of the reason the car is priced at $15k now even with an $8k investment.

Buyer is responsible for shipping.  Car is currently located in my garage in Chicago, IL.

Payment will be accepted via cashier's check or cash only.  A $1000 deposit is required.

Feel free to ask any questions!  Tons of more pictures available!

BMW unleashes 160-hp S 1000 R streetfighter motorcycle

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

BMW Motorrad released the S 1000 RR superbike in 2010, but for those who'd like to take it down a (small) notch, the German motorcycle maker introduced the 2014 S 1000 R, a slightly less-ballsy version of the range-topping superbike, at EICMA on Tuesday.
In its transformation from 193-horsepower superbike to 160-hp sportbike, BMW detuned the 999cc inline four-cylinder engine a bit by lowering the redline from 13,000 RPM to 11,000 RPM, where peak power is made. Torque is rated at "approximately" 83 pound-feet (the RR makes 82.5 lb-ft), but more importantly, engineers tweaked the torque delivery in the R's favor by redesigning the cylinder-head ducts, modifying the camshaft profiles and reprogramming the engine management system. The result is seven lb-ft more torque than the RR up to 7,500 RPM. The R's torque peak occurs at 9,250 RPM.
The bike comes standard with ASC (automatic stability control) and "Race" ABS. Riders can choose between two modes, "Road" and "Rain," which adjust ABS and ASC settings to suit dry or wet roads. DTC (dynamic traction control) is available as an option, and with two modes, "Dynamic" and "Dynamic Pro," the system optimizes traction and helps riders achieve maximum acceleration.

2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe might be a better 3 Series sedan

Sat, 01 Feb 2014

At BMW, there really is something for everyone these days. Just take a look at the massive 3 Series/4 Series range - you can have a sedan, coupe, convertible, wagon, or funky-backed Gran Turismo. And now, with the introduction of the 2015 4 Series Gran Coupe, you can have another seda... err, hatchback, actually. But perhaps, a better one.
Compared to the 3 Series sedan, the 4 Series Gran Coupe is both longer and wider by about half an inch, but is shorter in overall height by an inch and a half. Honestly, to our eyes, it looks a little better than the 3 Series, too, what with its longer roofline, more sculpted rear haunches and lower stance. Full interior volume specs for the 4GC aren't available as of this writing, but we expect them to be roughly the same as the 3 Series, perhaps with a small decrease in headroom and rear legroom. Trunk space, at 17 cubic feet, matches the 3 Series sedan, and because the 4GC actually uses a hatchback design, it should be easier to access.
Powertrains are completely carryover from the rest of the 3/4 Series range. The 428i uses BMW's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, and the 435i is fitted with the company's 3.0-liter turbo-six, good for 300 hp and 300 lb-ft. An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission available in the US with either model and rear-wheel drive is standard. Only the 428i can be had with BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system, and interestingly, the 428i Gran Coupe is actually expected to be more fuel-efficient than its 3 Series sedan counterpart. The GC is estimated to return 23/35 miles per gallon city/highway, compared to the 23/33 mpg in the 328i sedan. The 435i Gran Coupe should achieve the same 22/32 mpg ratings as the 335i sedan.

BMW working on 'FAST' CUV to slot between X1 and 2 Series

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Our spy shooters have caught a new FAST BMW testing that's rumored to hit the market in late 2015. Sadly, the word fast in that last sentence isn't describing the car's performance; instead it's an acronym that stands for Family Active Sports Tourer. Talk about a case of false advertising.
Despite it's speedy name, the FAST doesn't look ready to set any Nürburgring lap records. It rides on BMW's modular, front-wheel drive UKL platform that underpins the current generation Mini Cooper, upcoming 2 Series Active Tourer and next X1. According to our spies, its design is supposed to blend the looks of a wagon and a CUV on the outside with a large, useful interior. Conceivably, it could be offered with the hybrid system from the 2 Series, as well.
The new prototype definitely shares the styling of its front-wheel-drive BMW siblings. Up to the A-pillar, it looks pretty similar to what we know about the future X1. But the FAST has a more arched profile and lower ride height compared to the crossover's chunkier, more conventional design.
