This is a very rare fully optioned BMW 745LI. This is uniquely optioned since all the options you will find in the 12 cylinder flagship 760LI are packaged in this more efficient V8 model. One notable option is the adaptive cruise control which will automatically maintain a driver set distance to the vehicle in front by actuating the brakes and gas. Probably the best feature is the seat package, which includes heated/cooled powered reclining with memory of all seats front and rear. They feature the aircraft style headrests which can cradle your head to prevent you the embarrassment of asleep on your neighbors shoulder. Massage function on both front seats (passenger massage was rare especially on later models). I basically took multiple trips to the west coast and wanted the most comfortable vehicle to do that. It is also optioned with the sport package so it is equipped with the active roll stabilization. This option partnered with EDC (Electronic Damping Control) allows the driver to select a sport setting which completely changes the character of the vehicle from a luxury cruiser to a fling able sporty much smaller feeling vehicle. There are no compromises with this set up. You also get the load leveling rear air suspension with this set up. All the mentioned options set this 7 series apart from run of the mill 7's. There is a driver side airbag light on and the driver side cat triggers a below threshold check engine. Those are the only two major issues. Airbag light may just need to be reset and the cat does not always trigger the light. Airbag light occurred before I replaced and registered a new battery with the car's computer. The cat went bad since the previous owner had a faulty coil which he did not address in a timely manner. When I bought the car it was given a tune-up (spark plugs/O2 sensors k&N filter fuel filters etc). The vehicle still achieves 25mpg on the highway and has not gotten any worse so I lived with the occasional light. New water pump earlier this year makes this BMW ready for another cross country trip. There may be a bad TPM sensor although new ones were installed 2 years ago. It has an upgraded DVD navigation computer which has the 3d perspective view. Although BMW claims lifetime fluid, the transmission was serviced last year ($200 filter alone). It has high performance Akebono ceramic brakes all around with Centric Rotors. 2 sets of keys. 713-836-1508

BMW Concept 4 Series Coupe proves that 3-2=4
Mon, 14 Jan 2013BMW may be calling this 4 Series Coupe a concept, but take a long, hard look - this will be the car that replaces the 3 Series Coupe in the automaker's lineup. Don't let that number change trip you up. This car will have all the basic elements of what makes a 3 Series coupe so popular, and while this isn't technically the production model (there are still come conceptual elements and we don't have powertrain details), it's pretty much what we can look forward to seeing out on the road very soon. And honestly, the naming strategy isn't that weird (though it's still plenty odd) - BMW will be using even numbers for all its coupes and convertibles moving forward. 1 Series, meet 2 Series. And when a 3 Series loses two doors, it becomes a 4 Series.
Dimensionally, the new 4 Series coupe is 1.7-inches wider, half an inch shorter in overall height, and rides on a 2.0-inch longer wheelbase. It's a really pretty thing, with bold, aggressive body sculpting up front, and a rear deck that's sort of like a downsized version of the larger 6 Series two-door. It's all very handsome, but we'll reserve final judgment until we see the production version with its likely smaller wheels and possibly toned-down visuals.
We don't yet have powertrain details, but we fully expect the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.0-liter turbo-six to carry over in 328i 428i and 435i guise. Though remember, other 3.0-liter models in BMW's range use 40i designation, so we could possibly be looking at a 440i Coupe, instead. We won't know until the production car officially bows later this year.
Cafe racer motorbikes storm Japan
Fri, 22 Nov 2013Japan may be best known, at least among motorcycle enthusiasts, for its sport bikes. But as we found at the Tokyo Motor Show this year, Japanese motorcycle manufacturers are capable of producing all kinds of motorbikes. And to our delight, that includes cafe racers.
Along with the myriad electric bikes, dirt bikes, crotch rockets and scooters, the halls of Tokyo's Big Site convention center this year were full of the retro-infused rides we love. Chief among them was the Bolt (shown above) which Yamaha exhibited alongside their various electric two-wheelers, sporting a delicious metallic blue paintjob, inverted handlebars and hanging mirrors, machined metal bits, blacked-out trim and saddle brown leatherwork.
Honda was also on hand with a new EX version of its '70s-style CB1100 retro roadster in sinister and low-key matte black. And this was our first chance to check out BMW Motorrad's new birthday present to its 90-year-old self, the R NineT, a model recently unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. But one of the most amusing retro rides we came across was the Honda Monkey Limited, a mini bike that makes the new 125cc Grom (which was displayed alongside it) look positively gigantic.
2014 BMW 4 Series
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Because Four Is Greater Than Three
Say what you will about the name 4 Series, there is a method to BMW's madness. On one hand, it's easy enough to just buy into the logic that odd numbers are reserved for sedans and wagons, and that even numbers are reserved for coupes and convertibles. On the other hand, consider the idea that the higher numbers are used to separate the more dynamic, more engaging vehicles that use the same platform. It's that sort of separation that differentiates the 6 Series so nicely from its 5 Series roots, after all. And if we're being cynical, it also allows BMW to charge a bit more money for its lower-volume offerings.
So with the new two-door version of the 3 Series, BMW has gone the route of strengthening the dynamic virtues of its F30 chassis to create a car that's more removed from its sedan kin than one might think. And after spending some time with the new 4 Series on the roads around Lisbon, Portugal, as well as the famous Circuito do Estoril racetrack, it's increasingly clear that calling this car a 3 Series Coupe simply wouldn't be fair.
