1979 BMW 733 Rust free New Mexico car. Easy and light restoration car., image 1

An absolutely amazing 1979 BMW 733 sedan. It is mainly all original paint and original interior. The body is virtually perfect, minor door dings and one spot of corrosion on the left rear quarter caused by trapped moisture,(see picture) the floors are amazing as is the trunk floor. The moldings, bumpers and bright work are all extremely nice as are the glass, lights and grills, BMW emblems are toast. The interior is amazing! The leather is all intact, soft and only needs a good cleaning and re-dye. The carpet and the trunk carpet is all very good as is the trunk lining and carpet. The dash pad has some cracks in it but not an unusual amount, it is quite useable. The wood trim is a 7 on a scale 1-10, descent but needs a refresh. The door panels have several minor cracks in the black vinyl but are over all in very good condition. This car runs very nicely, the engine has the typical sewing machine sound and does not smoke or do anything unusual. The four speed transmission, clutch and drive train are all great. All the wheels are very nice and would take very little to look like new. I see this car with a new quality paint job, a re-dye on the seats, new tires and a thorough detail throughout. It should have a complete check of the brakes, seals, fluids and fuel system. Will make a very nice retro BMW driver with minimal effort Please see the pictures and ask any questions you have. The mileage although I believe accurate, will be shown as Not actual on your NM paperwork due to the age of this vehicle.I have a very reasonable reserve and intend to sell this vehicle to someone who will appreciate it.I have a 100% feedback rating and have been a ebay member since 1999, Buy with confidence.
Thanks for looking.

BMW M4 Coupe laps 'Ring in 7:52, bests outgoing M3

Thu, 19 Jun 2014

Comparing Nürburgring Nordschleife lap times is a bit of a black art, especially when looking at times officially set by manufacturers matched against other sources. Driver skill and weather conditions play a huge roll in determining a quality time. Still, it appears BMW fans have reason to celebrate because the new M4 Coupe beat the previous-generation M3 by 13 seconds in a recent test by Germany's Sport Auto magazine.
Sport Auto conducts what it calls the Supertest, where it runs performance cars around the 'Ring and the short course at Hockenheim to create its own database of comparable times. The M4 with a dual-clutch transmission, ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Supersport tires managed a quality 7 minutes 52 second lap around the 12.8-mile course, compared to 8:05 from the last M3, according to BimmerPost. The new coupe also beat the magazine's posted times for the Audi RS5 Coupe, which did it in 7:59, and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG with an 8:01, but couldn't quite match the 7:44 set by a 911 Carrera S. Still, BMW must be somewhat pleased with these results of its new 425-horsepower coupe because it posted the magazine's cover and an image of the time on its official M Facebook page.
While the M4 apparently stands up to contemporaries and predecessors, new generations of the AMG and RS models are reportedly on the horizon. In other words, more tests will come.

BMW names new head of M division

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

BMW's performance division has been run by Dr. Friedrich Nitschke since 2011, developing, among other products, the new M3 and M4. But soon the good doctor will be retiring, and BMW has just named his successor.
Taking Nitschke's place as chairman of BMW M GmbH will be Franciscus van Meel (pictured at right), who until recently served as managing director of Audi Quattro GmbH - the rival outfit that makes Ingolstadt's performance models, including the R8 supercar and RS line of performance models.
Van Meel will join BMW on October 1, presumably to learn the ropes from Nitschke before the 59-year-old executive steps down at the end of the year. Back in January, Audi named Heinz Peter Hollwerweger as head of Quattro GmbH and reassigned van Meel to its Beijing R&D center, a role which evidently didn't suit him as well as creating Autobahn-storming German muscle cars.

Is the BMW i8 actually already sold out?

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

The other day we brought you a report from Reuters, which quoted BMW's global sales chief Ian Robertson as saying that the Bavarian automaker had already sold out the entire year's production run of its new i8. Impressive, sure, but perhaps not all that unusual for a groundbreaking new sportscar from a major automaker, of which only limited quantities are typically built. But is the i8 really sold out?
Our compatriots at Car and Driver chased down the story and report that Robertson's claims aren't exactly accurate. According to C/D, the numbers are based on sales projections, not actual orders taken. So while BMW may build upwards of 1,900 i8 coupes next year and over 5,000 in 2015, and while they're all expected to sell, that doesn't mean that it's too late to get your order in. That is, assuming you have the $135k on hand and don't mind getting just three cylinders back in return.
