For Sale by Owner. 1989 BMW 325 ci Convertible (not power). I have owned this car for several years. It has always been garaged that I am aware of. The last person that owned it was my friends father in his 80's that had it garaged and when he passed I purchased the car. This car since I have owned it has been lovingly been taken care of. The color of the car is a Champagne Mist Color w/ a Brown convertible top. The seats are not torn at all. The back ones have been recovered and are in excellent condition. The front are original and are normal wear and in good condition and not ripped. They interior is beige/camel in color. The carpeting is a tan color w/ embroidered BMW mats. The car has an automatic transmission w/ 164,000 miles. New rack & piniong steering put in by Rayco EuroSpec and a new steering shaft. New timing belt & bearing. New water pump and Sway Bar & link. AM/FM orginal stereo radio w/cassette. The dash is in very good condition and is not cracked at all. There is very minor cosmetic work if you want to do it. This car is definitely a driver and runs like a bear. I have attended local parades and have had people ask me if it was for sale. There is no visible rust on this vehicle. I can provide better pics if needed.

You will not be disappointed in this vehicle!

Auxiliary Cooling Fan only has 1 speed. It is controlled with a switch on the dash.

On Mar-16-13 at 16:31:29 PDT, seller added the following information:

Air Conditioning I ckd the other day is not running  cold. The compressor is running fine.I am assuming it needs freon. I do not use the A/C as I only drive it w/the top down in the summer with the top down. In the off season it is stored in the garage and covered.

The brake light will light on the dash. There is absolutely nothing wrong w/the breaks. When the breaks were replaced the sensors were not put on so that is why the light is on. This car drives great and has always had a valid PA inspection done and passed.

BMW restores classic Mini as it revives production in Netherlands

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

Mini will be kicking off production in the Netherlands, a country that hasn't built a Mini-badged machine since 1966. In honor of this event, BMW Group Classic, the team responsible for all the cars in the BMW Museum, as well as being a spare parts and restoration company in its own right, revived a classic 1959 Austin Seven. That particular car, number 983, was one of the first Minis to be built in the Netherlands.
The Netherlands' JJ Molenaar's Car Companies built 4,000 Austin Sevens and Morris Mini-Minors between 1959 and 1966, although we imagine Dutch Mini production will be much bigger when it starts up again in summer 2014. A five-person team from VDL Nedcar, the group handling production of new Minis, took to the job of restoring the diminutive British car from nose to tail.
The 34-horsepower engine and the transmission were both completely rebuilt, while the door panels were redone by hand. Help from the Mini community aided the VDL Nedcar team in finding authentic replicas or original parts where possible. All told, the new classic Mini is a striking example of what a good restoration can do to a car. The Seven was repainted in its original Farina Gray, adding to the car's sense of authenticity.

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.

2015 BMW X4

Tue, 27 May 2014

BMW has been in the line-blurring business of late, with the original X5 "Sports Activity Vehicle" muddling the line between SUVs and sport sedans in 1999, the 5 Series Gran Turismo challenging what our definition of "Gran Turismo" means in 2009, and pretty, low-roofed four-doors like the 6 Series Gran Coupe and the fresh new 4 Series Gran Coupe broadening the meaning of the word "coupe."
In the midst of all of this, BMW blurred the lines around both the SUV and coupe genres with its big, heavy, and in many ways ridiculous X5-based "Sports Activity Coupe" (cue collective eye-roll), dubbed X6. Auto wags scoffed at its lack of utility, compromised outward visibility and added cost, but a more emotional public was apparently smitten enough by its aggressive looks to avail itself of some 250,000 of them worldwide in six model years on sale.
Enter the all-new 2015 X4 crossover - err, "Sports Activity Coupe" - which BMW hopes will perform as well in the compact category as the X6 has on the next rung up the ladder. Like the X6, the X4 is a tough sell on paper: it's more expensive and less practical than the X3 on which it's based; it's heavier, despite the loss of interior space; and it doesn't even hold as much stuff in the back as the 3 Series wagon. As with the X6, the X4 is essentially a high-riding style statement that, like proper coupes (the two-door kind), says to the world, "You fools can take your need for practicality and shove it. I just want to look good."
