BMW E30 Turbo M3 Tribute. Powered by a 2.5L turbo 6 cylinder engine with a full custom exhaust and intercooler. The engine has a megasquirt ECU and despite only running 6psi of boost dynos at 240 hp at the wheel. The cold air intake is fully custom with removal of high beam lights and velocity stack openings created. Very custom and unique. Additional boost and ECU tuning (Megasquirts are fully tunable with a laptop) should yield well over 300 hp. The bottom end is a stock rebuild but the head has gotten the full treatment. (ported and polished, heavier springs, cams, etc) less than 1000 miles on build. This e30 has a five speed and limited slip differential.

The car is extensively lightened with carbon fiber. The hood, deck lid, wing and wicker, sunroof, race mirrors, grill, eyebrows,rear filler panel, splitter, dash, and center console are all carbon fiber. The center console is a one off piece. The rear seat has been removed and in its place a body color painted half cage has been fabricated. The cage is as beautiful as it is stout and rigid. The race seats are also carbon fiber and have five point race harnesses. The steering wheel is on a quick release. The front has a tow hook so the car is ready for the track for driver education days or track days.

The suspension is lowered and it is a fully adjustable Koni coil over set up. The car sits on ESM wheels and Toyo R888s race tires 245/45/16 front and rear. The ride height is aggressive and has the perfect stance. The car should be aligned before using on track.

This car was built as a SEMA display car for Eurostop USA and has been to the SEMA show twice. It has also been featured in several magazines. I recently took it to a car show and won the people's choice trophy. It had a constant crowd around it the whole day. It is truly an attention getter and is well built. The car is gorgeous and aggressive. Powerful and light. It would make an awesome show car or track car. Or it is perfect for someone who wants the M3 look for half the price.

BMW i8 official images leak ahead of Frankfurt [w/video]

The new BMW i8 plug-in electric supercar isn't set to make its official debut until September 10, when it will glide onto the Frankfurt Motor Show stage amidst a sea of flash photography. Of course, that isn't so true in today's world, where debuts are always preceded (often carefully) by "leaks."
Take this trio of images of the BMW i8 - there's just enough of the exterior on display in the profile shot to draw attention, without showing important styling points that might be present on the front or back of the car. The same goes for the video attached below. The cabin shot is cool, but isn't particularly earth-shattering when it comes to BMW interiors. As for the skeletal shot, we can see the 1.5-liter, turbocharged engine positioned between the rear axles, the battery pack found in what would be the transmission tunnel and the front-mounted electric motors.

Honda scores big in Automobile Advertising of the Year Awards [w/videos]

This year the Detroit Auto Show didn't just celebrate the automobile, it celebrated how we find out about the automobile, too. Partnering The One Club, this year introduced the 2014 One Show Automobile Advertising of the Year Award to Cobo Hall, celebrating winners in five different categories of advertising: broadcast television, online, interactive, experiential, and print/outdoor. Winners in those categories were judged by 50 creative directors and journalists, while a Public Choice category was chosen from among nearly 20,000 online votes.
Honda walked off with three of the six awards, its Hands spot taking Broadcast honors, its Sound of Honda getting the Online category and Illusions winning Public Choice. Hyundai made the grade in Interactive with Driveway Decision Maker, Fiat captured Print/Outdoor with its "Letters" ad, and Toyota's Tundra Endeavor Campaign spot and BMW's A Window into the Near Future were co-winners for Experiential.

Mini JCW Paceman vs. BMW M135i in family faceoff

Over the last year, we've had the chance to drive two of the most exciting hatchbacks in the BMW family - the BMW M135i and the Mini Paceman John Cooper Works - but Autocar has managed to get the two corporate cousins together for a head-to-head comparison. Just like our initial impressions of the Paceman JCW, Autocar has little to complain about this new 215-horsepower hatchback... until it begins to factor in the faster, better-mannered and similarly priced M135i.
Despite laying down an extra 100 hp and delivering a 0-60 time that is almost two seconds quicker, the M135i carries the same price tag of 29,535 pounds in the UK; US pricing for the Paceman starts at $36,200, while it still isn't even clear if the US will be getting the M135i. Even more surprising is the fact that the Paceman falls short of the M135i in regards to rear seat and cargo volume, and just barely squeaks out a win in the fuel economy department.
