Up for auction is my 1990 BMW 325ix. My wife and I just had our 2nd child and there just isn’t room for 2 car seats in this fun little car so I’m having to sell it. Here are the basics and some photos, please e-mail with any questions but the point of this for me is to SELL THE CAR. If you know about these cars, they are rare with AWD, 4 doors and a 5-speed. I bought the car in February 2010 with approximately 144,000 miles from the second owner, who kept it at his country house for occasional drives on weekends. It’s been driven mainly as a fun winter car (I call it the “Snow Leopard” because of the superb winter handling of its always-on 4WD, it's truly fun to drive). It is 23 years old and is all-original, original paint, interior, wheels, lights, etc. The only modifications from stock is an M-series shift knob installed in 2011 (original shift knob will be included with the car) and a Yakima roof rack (also includes roof basket, not pictured). It has been well maintained and it's wonderful to drive. All mechanical systems work great; engine, transmission, brakes, steering, clutch, lights, horn, radio, etc., etc., great sporty exhaust note. It loves the area between 3-4000 rpm's. I would not hesitate to drive this car any distance. The interior is remarkable for a 23 year old car, probably among the best you’ll see in a used 325ix that hasn't been fully restored. It has standard seats and a driver’s air bag. No wear, holes or cracks in any of the seats, front or back. No cracks in dash or holes in anything. The exterior is nice, AND ORIGINAL. It has a few rust spots and a few dents, as seen in the pictures, the size of a quarter or less, and some rock chips but no damage. The front bumper has a small piece chipped off and there is a chip in the passenger turn signal light cover and a crack in the driver fog lamp cover. No chips in the windshield and all of the glass is in good condition. The BMW logos are original and faded and the rear logo is a bit dented. It has the original tool kit in the trunk. It is missing 2 of the 4 center wheel caps, as seen in the pictures. Here's what it needs: Remember, this is a 23 year-old car, in remarkably good condition, runs and drives great! You can just keep on going. However, if you wanted to do a complete makeover, here's what I found that could use attention: Probably refinish the wheels, they are showing their age. Tires will get you at least another year or so. The power antenna does not go all the way down as seen in the photos. The power mirrors do not operate. A/C works, but is not very cold, may need to be serviced or recharged. I typically drive this car in the winter, so I don't often use the A/C. The LCD screen on the clock computer exploded so it’s hard to read. That's about it. I'm sure if you looked really hard you could find more faults with it because it's how old? Right, 23 years old! Repairs in recent years since I’ve owned it: New timing belt, spark plugs, water pump, thermostat, front sway-bar bushings and links - 144,600 miles (February 2010) Replaced oil pan (due to crack) - 145,400 miles (March 2010) Buyer is responsible for transportation. The car can be driven away with proper plates and documentation or I can assist truck/transport drivers ACCORDING TO MY SCHEDULE. I have a job, travel sometimes and am a busy person, so this car is being sold here on E-Bay to the highest bidder rather than take weeks or months with another site. Please e-mail and ask questions, if you are nearby you are welcome to come see and drive the car (according to my schedule) before bidding. This car will be sold to the highest bidder at the end of the auction. If you are unsure, don't bid. If you don't have the money, don't bid. If you live far away and haven't thought about shipping or picking up the car, don't bid. I am trying to sell the car and not have to re-list it. Thanks for looking - and bidding!!
Deposit of $500 via PayPal due within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment required in cash within 7 days of auction close.

Car companies may need to start curbing model proliferation
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Looking at the current automotive landscape, especially from German makers, you quickly get the impression that less definitely isn't more. BMW alone offers its 3 Series platform in practically every segment possible, including the regular sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe, which would seem to be direct competitors. Porsche might be the winner, though, with 20 different variants of the 911 listed for sale on its US website. However, some of this model madness might be reaching an end as companies begin cutting back spending or shifting money to other priorities.
According to Yahoo Finance, the offerings from the German automakers are up 25 percent over the past three years to over 200 models in Europe. The peak is expected to come around 2018 at 230 separate vehicles, according to consulting company PwC.
Amazingly, BMW, which is among the poster children for this model explosion, might be changing its tune. "I'm sure there will be points in the future where we look at certain cars and say, 'Maybe we need to think differently now,'" said head of sales Ian Robertson in an interview, according to Yahoo Finance. The statement certainly sounds shocking coming from a company rumored to have 23 front-wheel-drive vehicles all using a single platform on the way.
Toyota close to licensing deal with BMW for fuel cell technology
Wed, 23 Jan 2013For over a year now, we've been hearing about a potential partnership between Toyota and BMW on everything from sports cars to lithium-ion batteries, but one of the first cooperative projects between these two automakers could bring Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell technology to a BMW vehicle. Reuters is reporting that an announcement is likely to be made as soon as later this week regarding a BMW fuel cell vehicle that could be in production by 2020 with a prototype running around by 2015.
The last we heard of Toyota's fuel cell technology, it was in the FCV-R Concept that we saw at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, but there is no word how far along in development this system is. If it does come to fruition, such a vehicle for BMW would build on the automaker's commitment to hydrogen that started with the Hydrogen 7, which unlike a fuel cell vehicle, simply ran on hydrogen fuel rather than converting it to electricity for use in motors. We're definitely interested where this Toyota/BMW tie up could be headed.
BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod
Thu, 20 Jun 2013Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.
