Needs some work to be perfect, but running, registered and inspected."

I have a 94 BMW 325is with an I6 M3 swap in it.  Swap has 100k, car has 199,500k on body.  Ok tires, bmw motorsports rims, aftermarket exhaust, complete ac schnitzer short shifter kit(VERY RARE), drilled rotors, bilstein shocks/struts, k & n intake, blackout tails, angel eyes one piece headlight assembly and h & r springs. Some scuffs and dings here and there but a daily driven car, interior panels in the back are coming off so they need to be placed back on better, but are intact and not torn. Alpine speakers, Pioneer head unit, all leather seats. 2-10' custom subs in the back (need to be wired up).  Radiator fan was old and the fins broke off and hit the side of the radiator.  For the new buyer, I will include a replacement fan and clutch.  As of right now, the radiator is not leaking and coolant is still holding in the reservoir but you may want to replace to be certain.  We can work that out as well if we need too.  Car has never overheated as long as I have owned it.  Again, a great project that can be worked on and driven at the same time. The RESERVE is set at $3375, I've seen them go for double the price so bid with confidence if serious about this vehicle!  This is a hell of a deal!  Email me if you have any questions.

BMW i8 with 500+ horsepower in the cards?

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

While BMW makes plenty of machinery to keep enthusiasts interested, its most enticing models are often based on more ordinary ones. That's what made the arrival of the i8 so captivating, emerging as the first stand-alone BMW sports coupe since the M1. But if its dual purpose - trying its best to both embrace the earth and traverse it rapidly - somehow left you disappointed, the next development could prove to fix that.
According to Automobile, BMW is working on a more potent i8S model. The hardcore version of the hybrid sports car would offer more power and a stiffened chassis to make it that much more aggressive. The Bavarian automaker is reportedly still evaluating two potential powertrain options: The first would pair a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder good for 320 horsepower to an electric motor with another 204 hp. The second would use a 3.0-liter straight six with 480 hp and an electric motor with 109 hp. Both would be mated to a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and an integrated starter motor packing an extra 27 hp.
Either way, we'd be looking at a combined output well in excess of 500 horsepower - far more than the existing i8's 228-hp turbo three and 129-hp electric motor - dropping the 0-62 time down from 4.1 seconds to an estimated 3.5. Couple that to a more advanced carbon chassis, wider tires and other goodies, and the i8 would be transformed into a far more capable performance machine than it already is.

EVO "2012 Car of the Year: The Track Battles" is a sports car salmagundi

Sun, 25 Nov 2012

EVO has come out with another gotta-watch-it video, throwing its 2012 Car of the Year contestants around the UK's 1.5-mile Blyton Park track. It's actually a 15-minute teaser for the full-length DVD detailing the magazine's Car of the Year selection, but the tease is worth every penny free second.
Tiff Needell and sports car racer Richard Meaden handle the wheel duties, the two driving five pairs of sports cars: Lotus Exige S vs. Porsche Boxster S, Morgan Three-Wheeler vs. Toyota GT86, BMW M135i vs. Porsche 911, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series vs. Alpina B3 GT3, the marquee event pits the McLaren MP4-12C vs. the Pagani Huayra. After a head-to-head lap with commentary during drifts, Meaden takes each car out to set a representative lap time.
You'll find the verdicts, lots of tire smoke, and lines like "Anything you can do sideways I can do sideways" in the video below.

Thermal imagery of BMW M4 DTM pit stop is red hot

Wed, 28 May 2014

A pit stop is a pit stop, right? The race car pulls in, the crew changes the tires, pumps in some fuel, maybe swaps out a busted body panel or squeegees the windshield, and off it goes for another heat. Only pit stops have become the focus of news lately for a number of reasons, whether it's because of mishaps (like the ones that prompted F1 to ban mid-race refueling), new time records (due largely to said ban) or interesting new ways to film the fast-paced action.
A few weeks ago we brought you footage of an IndyCar pit stop filmed from multiple angles courtesy of Google Glass. Now BMW has released a brief clip of one of its M4 DTM racers coming in for fresh rubber, all filmed by infrared camera. Its the kind of technology BMW uses to help optimize its German touring cars for competition, and now the Bavarian outfit has released some footage for fans to enjoy.
The resulting thermal imagery gives you an idea of how hot the car runs (and where the heat is emanating from), how warm they get the fresh rubber before they get it onto the car, and what kind of temperatures the pit crew is subjected to. Look closely enough in the 25-second video below and you'll even see the heat sputtering out of the exhaust pipes as the M4 downshifts into its pit box. (Just don't try adjusting your speakers, the clip is without audio.)
