Up for sale our beloved 1990 BMW 325ix.

First the good :
Car has been in the family since 2005,  we are the "second" owners. Car was bought at Field's BMW in Orlando, it came from New Mexico, at the time paint was faded due to blistering sun in Albuquerque, so we had it repainted. My wife drove it for 3 years until it was time to pass it on to my college bound daughter. For 4 years she drove it and during that time I repaired a few things such as: front wheel bearings (2008) cylinder head was replaced with a remanufactured one from Vines Auto in Alabama, hoses, belts, water pump were replaced. Also the A/C system was completely replaced with new parts (Aug. 2010), needs recharged now. Wheels and tires are from last year. It is equipped with Euro Ellipsoids. I bought a used sun roof to replace the one on the car which has some rust; I never got the chance to replace it so I will gladly include it with the selling price.

The gears on the odometer need to be replaced. I listed the car with 160,000 miles, I am estimating the mileage to be around that because the car odometer was replaced at 70,000 miles - just before I bought it. The odometer currently shows 83,132 but it stopped working last year; it's safe to say it was driven perhaps another 6-7000 miles after that. Engine runs great!!!  It needs absolutely nothing mechanically, maintenance was done as scheduled. My son installed a new Remus exhaust in 2012, and a short shift kit. I still have the original wheels and radio, as you can see the seats and dash are in good condition ( NO cracks or rips). This bimmer has no rust anywhere but the sun roof. CarFax reports an accident in 2012, I was lightly rear ended last year and the insurance of the person at fault paid for all the repairs (approx. $2,600).

Now the bad :
It was in a minor accident this summer, our teenage son decided to perform a doughnut maneuver and lost control of the car. The car hit a pile of rocks and dirt which resulted in damage to the front bumper, spoiler, the driver's-side wheel was pushed against the firewall, the foot rest is nearly touching the clutch pedal, and there is damage to the suspension.  I cannot tell exactly what else is damaged.  The control arm arm was bent but has been professionally replaced and the car is now drivable; however, the BMW technician suggested that the steering be adjusted. A reputable, local body shop which I have used several times in the past told me that since I am not mechanically inclined they felt it was not worth repairing because it would be costly; they also mentioned that it could be brought back to normal condition for someone who has the patience and time. I do not want to spend anymore money on the car, since I have spent a lot already in the past 8 years of owning it and so it's time to sell this one. But I know it can make someone happy. I can send additional pictures and info upon request. contact at 321-243-8160

Winning bidder will have 3 days to place a $500 deposit using PayPal and the remaining balance is to be paid in cash at time of delivery. I have a clear title.

BMW 8 Series turns 25 [w/video]

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

From the very beginning, the BMW 8 Series was a head turner. It was hardly a common sight in the first place, and the angular lines and low, pointed nose made the GT look like something special on the road. It's been 25 years since the Bavarian brand's flagship coupe of the '90s debuted, and owners celebrated the anniversary in style in Germany.
The 8 Series still looks great today, but its popup headlights give away its age a little. You just don't see them anymore. It was introduced at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show as the 850i with a 5.0-liter V12 under the hood capable of 295 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Later, even bigger V12s would find their way in there. Production lasted until 1999, but they were rather exclusive with 30,621 built in its lifetime.
To celebrate the anniversary, several BMW clubs organized 120 examples for display at the company's headquarters in Munich. The brand took advantage of the display to show off the ultimate 8 prototype as well. The one-off special packed a 550-horsepower V12 and a body with optimized aero. That engine eventually became the basis for the one in the McLaren F1.

Honda scores big in Automobile Advertising of the Year Awards [w/videos]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

This year the Detroit Auto Show didn't just celebrate the automobile, it celebrated how we find out about the automobile, too. Partnering The One Club, this year introduced the 2014 One Show Automobile Advertising of the Year Award to Cobo Hall, celebrating winners in five different categories of advertising: broadcast television, online, interactive, experiential, and print/outdoor. Winners in those categories were judged by 50 creative directors and journalists, while a Public Choice category was chosen from among nearly 20,000 online votes.
Honda walked off with three of the six awards, its Hands spot taking Broadcast honors, its Sound of Honda getting the Online category and Illusions winning Public Choice. Hyundai made the grade in Interactive with Driveway Decision Maker, Fiat captured Print/Outdoor with its "Letters" ad, and Toyota's Tundra Endeavor Campaign spot and BMW's A Window into the Near Future were co-winners for Experiential.
You can watch all of the press release and winning videos below or check out all of the finalists, announced last month, for a refresher.

BMW CS reinterpretation proves retro can be sexy [w/video]

Fri, 28 Mar 2014

Designer David Obendorfer doesn't work for BMW, but perhaps the German automaker should give him a call. His CS Vintage Concept shows a singular ability to understand the brand's classic style and reinterpret it for today. He isn't some amateur, either. Obendorfer has an industrial design degree and has been penning the interiors and exteriors of yachts from the Officina Italiana Design for five years, which counts luxury shipbuilders like Riva and Sanlorenzo among its clients. His website shows a real passion and knack for modernizing '60s and '70s European cars, too.
Obendorfer prefers to reimagine classic automotive styles. "Retro cars are not copies of their predecessors or renovated specimens, rather they are carefully studied reconsiderations, strongly rooted in contemporary style," he tells Autoblog. For the CS Vintage Concept, he worked to update the looks of the seminal BMW 2000CS and its E9 chassis while placing them on a modern platform. Obendorfer's inspiration comes from his belief that the later CS models' design is partially responsible for defining BMW styling, with its shark-nose front and four round headlights.
The CS Vintage Concept's shape starts with a jutting hood and a quartet of LED headlights, but the whole design really comes together in profile. The Hofmeister Kink at the rear pillar with the BMW Roundel is a nice nod to the originals, yet the proportions still find the perfect fusion of classic and modern. The interior is minimalist, with a vast expanse of wood for the dashboard at first glance, but the latter opens to expose the car's infotainment system.
