Selling my beloved 1988 BMW 325ix coupe. One of only 310 sold that model year. I've owned it since 2005, and bought it with 149k on the odometer. It now has 223k, but you would never know by the way it looks and drives. Very well maintained, with an extensive list including-

New fuel injectors, clutch assembly with resurfaced flywheel, alternator, power steering pump, left control arm & bushings, intake manifold gaskets, front axle boots, heat shield gasket, fuel pressure regulator, Bilstein shocks, Brembo rotors in front, High performance ignition wires, all new synthetic fluids in transfer case and front and rear differentials, recent timing belt, recent coolant with tune up, Instrument cluster battery changed over to lithium, Euro lenses, Remus exhaust......

Has $1200 worth of stereo in it (have original radio also) and was painted a few years ago. Had very, VERY small amount of rust on car. Front right fender was rusted, so opted to have it replaced. Other than that, a small amount of rust under the trunk release was fixed. This is a very solid car. Doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes. Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Selling my 1988 BMW 325ix coupe, one of only 310 sold in the U.S. that model year. Car looks, runs and drives beautifully. Very well maintained and never abused. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer example. Interior is in great condition (except driver's seat) and dash is perfect. Car has power windows, mirrors, locks, and sunroof, and cruise control, all working fine. AC has never worked, I have no idea what its deal is, so I'm not going to give you the old 'probably just needs a recharge' BS. Steering is tight and crisp, and engine runs strong. Check the internals by taking off oil cap, and engine is as bright and shiny as the day it was made. Had it since 2005, and always used synthetic oil, and synthetic fluids for transfer car and front and rear differentials. Have an extensive parts list and upgrade list. Upgrades include Power chip (needs at least 91 octane), High performance spark plug wires, Remus free flow exhaust, and K&N cold air intake. This bumps the horses up to around 200. You'll enjoy the extra zip! Awesome in the snow, and a blast on twisty roads. Has near new Kumho Ecsta 4x tires. Parts list includes- all new injectors, clutch with resurfaced flywheel, left control arm and bushings, alternator, power steering pump, Intake manifold gaskets, front axle boots, fuel pressure regulator, Brembo rotors in front, Bilstein shocks in back, heat shield gasket, recent timing belt, new coolant, and tune up. Instrument cluster battery has been changed over to lithium, and installed Euro lenses in back. Painted a few years back. Had very VERY little rust. Right front fender had some, so I opted to replace it, and small spot by the trunk lid button was fixed. This is a very solid car with tons of life left. This is NOT a project car. You can pick up a piece of junk for $3500 and easily put $10k plus into it to get it running and looking good. Any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Would like to clarify that all major maintenance has taken place within the last 48 months and within 23k miles. They are not 'new' like as of yesterday.  Have garage receipts for the big ticket items, and have sales receipts for all parts mentioned plus smaller things that I did not list, like burl wood shift knob. The tune up and timing belt are within the last 2k miles, as well as a replaced back brake line. Sorry for any confusion!

Upcoming new BMW X6 leaks out ahead of full reveal

Thu, 05 Jun 2014

The X5 may have been the first BMW crossover on the market when it arrived in 2000, opening the door to more high-riding Bavarians to follow, but it's been replaced twice over now. The X3 is on its second generation, and with the X1 having been introduced in 2009 and the X4 soon to hit showrooms, that makes the X6 - introduced in 2008 - the oldest crossover in the BMW lineup. But it won't be for much longer.
Soon BMW will reveal the all-new X6, based on the latest X5 but with that tell-tale slanted roofline. But before it gets the chance, a handful of images have leaked their way all over the Internet to give us an advance look at what to expect.
The overall shape of the new X6 comes across as familiar, if a bit less of an awkward take on the vehicle that (for better or worse) launched the crossover coupe segment. Up front the twin kidney grilles and headlights are larger, in keeping with the latest BMW design language, and the bumper less horizontal and more dynamic. Towards the back there's a sharp crease above the wheel arch blending into the more rakishly shaped tail lights, while the metallic vent behind the front wheel arch lends the flank an even sportier appearance.

BMW wants world drifting record back in US

Sat, 23 Mar 2013

BMW just can't stand the thought of the world record for the longest drift winding up in the hands of someone else. The German automaker is set to take a crack at setting a new record by blowing the old one straight out of the water. A driver in China holds the current title after kicking a car sideways for a full 3.6 miles. Now, on May 11, BMW Performance Driving Instructor Johan Schwartz will attempt to pitch a BMW M5 sideways for some 40 miles as part of a stunt to raise funds for the BMW Pro-Am Charity.
We've had the distinct pleasure of riding with the instructors at the BMW facility in South Carolina, and we can tell you that if anyone can keep an M5 at full tilt for 40 miles, it's these guys. BMW has released a teaser video to drum up attention for the stunt. You can catch it below.

Are you the next BMW X5?

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

Who knew that diecast model makers could be such a good source of leaks? Less than a month after a diecast model 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA in China, someone overseas at Diecast Empire or Jadi Modelcraft could get a bath in boiling oil for leaking uncamouflaged images of the next-generation BMW X5.
Naturally, that assumes that this image from a brochure from a Jadi brochure is indeed the F15 BMW X5 - it was posted to Diecast Empire's Facebook page. In its favor, the lines all add up if we compare it to the most revealing spy shots we have of the coming crossover - the headlight corners, the metal trim separating the kidney grille from the opening just above the license plate, the cut of the swage line, and the fact that the model picture reveals all of the most important character pieces that BMW has kept covered.
There's something written on the door of the model image that isn't in the spy shots, but that could be an xDrive badge. We will see the genuine article soon enough and we'll know for sure. For now, we might have already seen its facsimile in miniature.
