Up for bid here is a 1985 BMW 318i e30.  The first note that I want to be clear about so that there is no confusion is that THE CAR IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING.  I bought the car a year ago and have been driving it and working on it since.  However a few months ago I was driving the car down the road and all of a sudden everything shut off on me.  My mechanic discovered a wiring meltdown in the fuse box.  I have put in a new fuse box and have got the car back to a point where it turns over and the engine run for a few seconds.  If anyone knows anything about this problem and likes to work on BMWs, this would be an amazing project car.  When the car did run it was amazing to drive.  I am sure that it is close to working again.  However, my skills have reached their end and I am out of answers.  When working the car can be a daily driver if desired although I did not use it as such.  The only reason I am selling is because I am out of answers as to how to keep the engine running.  I really hate to see it go but I hope it can find a good home and get back on the road as soon as possible where it belongs.

recent work and inclusions:

-new work done on the engine heads (now runs strong on all 4
-new body work and paint
-new stereo
-full size spare tire
-sport dynamic rims and tires
-miscellaneous extra parts box

2014 BMW 6 Series gets Frozen Brilliant White convertible, manual option for M6

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

BMW has announced updates to the 6 Series lineup today, including a special "Frozen" edition of the convertible, and a 640i Gran Coupe in all-wheel-drive trim.
The 2014 BMW 6 Series Convertible Frozen Brilliant White Edition (catchy name, right?) will be available from select BMW dealers this May, and will offer buyers the signature paint, Frozen Black mirror caps, a black grille and uniquely designed, 20-inch M Performance wheels. Just 100 examples of the FBWE 6er will be produced, with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive cars in the mix, for starting prices of $106,995 and $110,095, respectively (both prices include $895 in destination and handling charges).
BMW has also informed us that all of its 6 Series Gran Coupe models will now be available with the company's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. No pricing has been given for the xDrive versions of the car as of yet.

BMW M4 sheds some camouflage for latest test run

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Last time we saw the upcoming BMW M4 out testing, it was heavily clad with camouflage and decidedly homely looking (as most early development mules are). But in this latest set of photos, the M3 coupe successor has started to come into its own skin, and we're seeing a shape more closely akin to that of a rendering we brought you a few months back.
Unsurprisingly, the M4 coupe looks very similar to the 4 Series Concept that BMW debuted at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. And while non-M version of the 4er will likely look a bit more sedate, these spy shots clearly show an aggressive front fascia, large wheels and the usual quad-exhaust rounding out the rear end.
Naturally, the M3 sedan will launch before this M4 coupe (and convertible), and powertrain details are still unclear as of this writing. We understand that the current M3's naturally aspirated V8 will be axed in favor of some sort of turbocharged six-cylinder engine, and we've heard plenty of rumors as to what, exactly, it might be, but we have yet to hear any official confirmation.

Watch the BMW i8 get wrung out on the Ring

Thu, 24 Apr 2014

Been wondering where the heck the reviews of the all-new, plug-in-hybrid BMW i8 have been? After all, the car isn't exactly new, having debuted in concept form way back in September of 2009. In August of last year, we even tested a prototype of the new supercar. Despite that, though, we still haven't gotten a crack at the actual vehicle that will be sold to the public.
Well, we're happy to tell you that we're currently testing the i8 and will have a proper review for you soon. If, however, you're just aching for some coverage of the low-slung plug-in, we have a short video of it in action around Germany's famed Nürburgring.
Despite it's three-cylinder, turbocharged gas engine, the i8 sounds pretty angry as it laps the Ring. That is, until it has a little bit of a breakdown. According to the guys that caught the car on video, it appeared the i8 had a minor brake issue, and was parked on the side of the track for a good 15 minutes, with the driver pumping the brakes. We should probably just take this as proof, then, that manufacturers are actually using the Ring for testing, and not just messing about.
