1980 Bmw 320i S-pkg on 2040-cars
Irvine, California, United States
Condition: Original black paint. No major accidents, but was lightly bumped on the rear bumper (yeah, the BIG US bumpers do work well) back in 2008ish so the rear panel and part of the rear driver's side panel was repainted. There is evidence of the paint wearing down to the primer coating (along the lower hood line), but it's still all original. Mechanically sound and last major work performed last year (catalytic converter, suspension parts changed, engine seals replaced, and more). Recaro seats are original and have been covered since new (no rips on the vinyl). Smoke-free car.
Features: So, I was a high school kid back in the early 80s and I was really into all the features available for this car. In addition to the standard "S-pkg" offerings of the front air dam, recaro seats and limited slip differential, I added Kamei side skirts, Kamei rear deck spoiler, Zender rear skirt, a sunroof bubble deflector. I've modernized the sealed beam headlights to the newer style plug-in bulbs, replaced the Hella fog lights (original cracked). The head unit was replaced with a Kenwood, but I still have the original Blaupunkt in the garage and it will come with the car (along with all the other "stuff" such as oil filters, original rear tail light lenses, hazard light switches, and even a new front diving board bumper if you want it). The 14 inch wheels are "Epsilon" 3-piece, but the spare is the original S-pkg 13" wheel/tire. History: Car was purchased from Long Beach BMW. My parents gave me the car and we've had it in the family since 1980. Shipping and payment: Local pick-up is the preferred method. I will accept a cashier's check, loan check from your banking institution, cash, or PayPal (if you have a business or premier account for amounts greater than $2,000). Within 24 hrs of the close, I will require a $500 deposit. Video: https://vimeo.com/106106615 |

2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe images leak out
Fri, 14 Jun 2013Because embargoes were apparently made to be broken, images of the 2014 BMW 4 Series coupe have leaked onto the Internet ahead of the car's official debut thanks to Car Design News' Facebook page. As you'll recall, the 4 Series is the replacement for the outgoing 3 Series coupe, its nomenclature falling in line with the rest of BMW's lineup, where coupes and convertibles will be set apart from their sedan counterparts by one number.
As we can see in the photos, the 4 Series takes a lot of its design cues from the 3 Series on which it is based, but there's a lot more in the way of attractive body sculpting, and this production model stays true to the original 4 Series Coupe Concept that we saw at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
We don't have official details to divulge just yet, but we can discern from the photos that the range-topping coupe will be the 435i model, likely powered by BMW's turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six from the 335i. There will no doubt be a 428i model with a 2.0-liter turbo-four underhood, and we expect BMW to offer its xDrive all-wheel-drive system on both models. Much like the 3 Series, a variety of trim levels will be on offer, including a top-spec M Sport trim that you can see painted in Estoril Blue here.
BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod
Thu, 20 Jun 2013Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.
BMW X5 driver repeatedly fails to understand big rig braking distances
Fri, 19 Sep 2014Nobody should be shocked that a big, heavy vehicle like a semi truck takes a longer distance to stop than the average passenger car; it's just basic physics. However, this BMW X5 driver seemingly has a major problem grasping the concept, and it results in some serious damage to the back of his SUV.
The whole incident is very confusing to watch. The BMW doesn't even seem to have a reason to slow down before the semi slams into the back of it at fairly high speed. But to make the situation even weirder, the crashes just keep happening again and again.
To give the BMW driver a little credit, he appears amazingly calm when surveying the damage afterward. But you have to wonder what this guy was thinking when trying a harebrained move like this. Check out the video to watch the carnage unfold.
