1987 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

This red Italian sports car spent all it's life in California. With a clean CarFax record, it was sitting for some years however all maintenance is up to date. Just a few days ago, I replaced the water pump with an oem (original) water pump along with the valve cover gasket and more. Clutch is strong and there is no noise in 2nd gear (common Alfa Romeo problem) and the engine runs strong and smooth. Never used the air conditioning however last time I checked it blew cold. Body is in excellent shape, with no visible dings or scratches at all (as seen in pictures.) Lenses and windows are crack free, except for a tiny already treated chip on the windshield and the rims are shiny and scratch free. Car is complete and no signs, logos or scripts are missing, badges are almost new. This is a California car therefore there is no rust on it. Interior:  The door panels are original and in perfect condition. Seats are original leather and dealer upgraded when first purchased (Quadrifoglio seats.) Leather is still shiny and the red stitching is still bright. Dash is crack free (as seen in pictures) the black carpeting is almost like new. The car is equipped with a dealer recommended roll bar for added safety. Radio has been upgraded to a deck that has a cd player and the power windows are both operating well. Odometer shows the actual mileage unlike many low mileage Alfa Romeo's, it actually works and has never stopped working in it's life as supported by the CarFax report. Trunk is in perfect shape with great carpet (as seen in pictures.) I upgraded the tonneau cover to make it more advanced than the stock 87' cover. Top is new and top of the line Stay Fast canvas. Please be noted that I tried to the best of my knowledge to describe the car correctly and honestly, however I still follow my policy of listing this car based on an as-is condition. Please see all pictures and read description carefully as well as ask any and all questions for I am happy to answer them to the best of my ability. This vehicle holds a clean California title under my name.

Thank You

Just 45% of Fiat dealers are profitable, and they're angry about it

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

<
On average, Fiat dealers have only been selling about 17 cars a month.
We've been wondering for some time how Fiat dealers in North America have been getting along with just one model range in their showrooms up until recently. Franchisees spent millions building, stocking and manning sleek new 'studio' showrooms, only to have but a single model to sell, the cherubic 500. And even with its many derivatives, the Cinquecento is still an inexpensive model with its attendant lower margins. Perhaps it should come as no surprise then, that just 45 percent of US Fiat dealers are said to be profitable.

Fiat reconsidering Mazda-based Alfa Romeo roadster? [w/poll]

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Alfa giveth and Alfa taketh away. With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.

Alfa Romeo considering Ferrari-developed engines for new product lineup

Sun, 06 Apr 2014

A report in Bloomberg adds more details to the plans for Alfa Romeo's fourth turnaround plan in Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne's tenure, and this time Ferrari is apparently going to be part of the show. In December Automotive News Europe reported that a new Maserati-derived rear-drive architecture would be the centerpiece at Alfa Romeo, as well as coming Chrysler and Dodge products. At the time, ANE said the platform would support a new midsize sedan and wagon perhaps to be called Giulia, a fullsize sedan and a midsize crossover, with retail appearance of the product initiative commencing perhaps as soon as next year. It would be part of Fiat's $12.3-billion spend on new models and European recovery.
The Bloomberg report says that particulars haven't been finalized, but the plan is to have six new Alfas appear over the next five years, two of which would be SUVs. The futures of the Mito and Giulietta, two of the three cars Alfa currently sells and 99 percent of sales last year, aren't assured, meaning that the lineup in six years could be seven cars (including the 4C), six of which we haven't any definitive clue of yet. The top-tier versions of those cars, according to the report - perhaps the Quadrifoglio Verde - "will be equipped with motors developed by Ferrari."
Marchionne wants to get sales up to 300,000 units per year when the lineup is complete, pairing Alfa sales with Jeep's global dealer network to open up the retail channel. That kind of volume would get Fiat's Italian plants back in business properly, even though Marchionne's stance on Italy-only Alfa production would mean the end of the anticipated roadster that was to be twinned with the coming Mazda MX-5 Miata. Alfa's direction will be laid out in Detroit in May as part of the overall strategy presentation for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV.
